One Mind-Blowing Tip to Instantly Add Storage to Your iPhone

I don’t know about you, but it seems like every time I go to take an important video or photo on my phone I get the pop-up saying “There is not enough available storage to take a photo.”

So I’ll delete my non-essential apps and as many photos as I can bear until a few days later, when I get the message again.

What the what?!

The other day I decided to investigate. I went into my settings and took a look at my usage. It said I had over 1500 photos on my phone. But when I went into my photos app I only had around 300. I checked the “Recently Deleted” folder and it was empty. Where were all of these phantom photos?!

I went to my bff Google and started to search. Then I came upon this great tip on the discussion section of the Apple website. Apparently there is a bug that causes some of your photos to remain on your phone, even after you delete them. Here’s how to get rid of them:

  • Go to Settings -> General -> Date & Time.
  • Turn off “Set Automatically”Tip to Add Storage to Your iPhone 2
  • Set the date to sometime a couple of years in the pastTip to Add Storage to Your iPhone 3
  • Go to your Photos app
  • Go to the Recently Deleted album
  • Are there photos there?! I had over 1200 photos!! (In my excitement I forgot to take a screen shot.) Delete them.
  • Go back to Settings -> General -> Date & Time and turn “Set Automatically” back onTip to Add Storage to Your iPhone 4

That’s it!! I instantly freed up 2GB of storage using this tip!!  Time to go take some more photos!! 🙂
