The start of October is SPOOKY season, and if you’re in the Cedar Rapids area you might be fretting over where to get your fright on this year.
We’ve got you covered with four local haunted house attractions:
Located: Inside Lindale Mall
Dates: Open Friday & Saturday nights the first three weekends in October from 7 pm-10:30 pm, Thursday, October 21 – Sunday, October 24 with limited hours, and the final dates are Thursday, October 28 and Friday, October 29.
Featuring: The Cedar Hills Sanatorium
Tickets: Online tickets available with required time slots.
The 5th Realm has been named “ONE OF THE NATION’S SCARIEST HAUNTED HOUSES” by scaryoverload.com and one of Iowa’s “MUST SEE HAUNTS” by thescarefactor.com. With two haunted attractions, a mini escape room, and a thrilling elevator ride you are sure to run screaming!
The 5th Realm features a 5,000 sq ft haunted attraction featuring screams around every corner as you navigate your way through the asylum and attempt to escape the horrors that have been set loose.
Located: Central City
Dates: Every Friday and Saturday from 8 pm-12 pm through Halloween
Featuring: Circle of Ash, Frightmare Forest, and Socko’s “FUN” House
Tickets: Tickets can be purchased online or at the gate.
The Circle of Ash has fright packed into 3 attractions; you will creep your way through a haunted house, ward of zombies in the forest, and hopefully not get lost in a maze of clowns!
Located: 6914 Terrazo Dr NW (Stoney Point) in Cedar Rapids
Dates: Saturday, Oct 30th and Sunday, Oct 31st from 6:30 pm to 10 pm
Tickets: Free admission, but canned food donations are accepted to be given to the local Salvation Army.
The Haunted Garage is put on by local grade school, high school, and college students as well as neighbors and friends! This haunt is not for the faint-hearted and is sure to have you shaking in your boots.
Located: Bloomsbury Farm, Atkins
Dates: October 2nd, 9th, 15th-16th, 22nd-23rd, and 29th-30th. The gates open at 6:30 and stop allowing entry at 10 pm.
Featuring: Cell Block Z, 3D Sinister Silo, The Slaughterhouse, and the Haunted Cornfield
Tickets: Tickets are sold online and at the gate
Scream Acres will live true to its name when you fight your way through a zombie apocalypse, a carnival of nightmares, and a prison for all who enter. Scream Acres also features a beer garden for guests 21+ who can grab an ice-cold drink and play yard games while you wait for the horror to begin!

You might have to pay for your ticket, but rest assured screams come for free at these local haunted attractions!
