Family Underground Escape |  3:30 p.m., 4:30 p.m. or 5:30 p.m. @ Shores Event Center

You are invited to test your wits in our Shorelock’s Wizardarium Underground Escape Room of magic and mystery. Work together to solve the secrets of Herbs and Potions, Fortune Telling, Astronomy, and Wizard Games. Unlock the wand and use the right spell to open the door and escape. The Family Room is for families with children between 6 and 14. Cost is $15/person with basic solvable puzzles and a 30-minute escape window. Pre-payment is required. [email protected]: Boss Baby |  6:00 p.m. – 8:00 p.m. @ NewBo City Market

Join us for [email protected] as we watch Boss Baby! Boss Baby is a most unusual baby. He wears a suit, carries a briefcase and is on a secret mission to discover why babies are losing their market share of love. In order to accomplish his mission, he will have to join forces with his big brother, Tim.  The movie will start at 6pm. But come early to grab dinner for the family from Market Shopkeepers, a drink for the parents from NewBo Beer and Wine, and a seat! Free & open to the public.


Saturday, February 24th

Engineering Day |  10:00 a.m. – 4:00 p.m. @ Iowa Children’s Museum

There will be activities throughout the Museum for this special day all about engineering. Kids will learn about biomedical, chemical, electrical, industrial, mechanical, and civil engineering through play and projects with students from the University of Iowa College of Engineering. Free & open to the public.

Superhero Party |  1:00 p.m. – 2:00 p.m. @ Ushers Ferry Historic Village

Superheroes assemble! Come dressed as your favorite superhero. Defeat the winter blues with superhero games, feats of strength and super snacks. Create your very own superhero mask. For children ages 2 and up. Register online or call 319-286-5566. Tickets are $15 for children ($14 for residents) and accompanying adults $2. Super Hero & Princess Skate |  1:30 p.m. – 5:00 p.m. @ Cedar Rapids Ice Arena

CALLING ALL SUPER HEROS AND PRINCESSES! The Cedar Rapids Ice Arena will be hosting a Super Hero & Princess Skate. Lizzy from CR Sisters Face Painting will be here from 2:00pm-4:00pm. $8.00 per skater, and face painting is included.


Sunday, February 25th

Kayak Session |  4:30 p.m. – 6:30 p.m. @ Bender Pool

The Cedar Rapids Parks & Recreation Department in cooperation with Linn County Conservation is offering kayakers, canoeists and stand-up paddle boarders, ages ten and up, a chance to practice their skills such as strokes, rolls and safety and rescue moves in the controlled environment at Bender Pool, 940 14th Avenue SE. The sessions are practices, not lessons, but experienced paddlers will be available to help. The fee is $10 per person per visit. No advance registration is required. Participants bring their own kayaks, canoes or stand-up paddle boards, and equipment. Wear proper swim attire and clean life jackets. A helmet is required for those practicing rolls. The kayaks must be rinsed, inside and out, with the hose just inside the door before they can be placed in the pool. Youth must be supervised by an adult.
