Iowa Equestrian Center August 5-8 8 am-1 pm
Bring your family out to the Iowa Equestrian Center to see horses and watch equestrian athletes compete. Admission is free and all are welcome to attend the Iowa NBHA State Barrel Race. The event will be held indoors and the Center is located on the south side of Kirkwood Community College campus. Food and refreshments may be purchased on site. 801 76th Ave Dr. SW Cedar Rapids, Iowa

Camp Talon August 5
Wickiup Hill Learning Center, Linn County The ability to see a live falcon or owl up close is not soon forgotten. The RARE (Raptor Advocacy Rehabilitation and Education) Group will introduce you to their live Educational Ambassador Raptors. Learn about the impact humans can have on wildlife as well as the role wildlife and humans play together. Once you have an opportunity to meet the live Raptors, enjoy a hike explore Wickiup’s trails to learn about other local birds. For ages, 9-12 year old’s. Register online by August 4th. Cost: $15
Hiawatha Fun Fest- August 6-7
Fun Fest won’t look the same as it did in years past but we’re happy to be able to offer you free family entertainment! We’re crossing our fingers we can offer you a bigger and better Fun Fest in 2022!

Moonlit Movie- Raya and the Last Dragon- August 6
Make memories this summer with the Marion Parks and Recreation Department with free, family-friendly Moonlit Movies at Lowe Park. Come early to enjoy the outdoors General seating begins at 7:00 p.m. with the movie beginning around 8:00 p.m. (depending on daylight). Treats from Kona Ice, The Freeze, and FREE popcorn from the Shriner’s Popcorn Mobile. Guests should bring lawn chairs and blankets for seating.

Amana Festival of the Arts -August 7, 10 am-5 pm
The Amana Arts Guild will sponsor its Festival of the Arts on Saturday, August 7, 2021, from 10 AM – 5 PM, Amana Iowa. Market Barn area in Amana 707-46th Ave. This special event will feature sales of fine arts, crafts, and traditional Colony folk arts by local and guest artists. A unique part of the festival will be demonstrations as visitors will enjoy observing: woodturning, quilting, tinsmithing, basket-making, spinning, and painting. Guests will also enjoy local foods such as Amana bratwurst, sauerkraut, homemade apple fritters, baked goods, and a special homemade rhubarb drink. Entertainment throughout the day. Also, the children can enjoy an art corner.
Family Night at Ushers Ferry August 11, 5:30-8:30 pm
Need a night out with the family? Bring a picnic dinner and a blanket to the village for an evening of simple fun. Enjoy live entertainment at the gazebo, a fun craft kit for the kids, and some games to play with your family group. Tour the village while you’re at it! $5/family

Centennial Park in North Liberty An outdoor hour-long show from the Eastern Iowa Circus with fire dance, breathing, aerial, juggling, hoops, and acro-balance. After a year of shifting plans, stand-ins, and alternatives, you deserve events you can look forward to and, most importantly, count on!

Family Nature Experience- August 8th, 1-2 pm
Join a naturalist at the Indian Creek Nature Center for some family fun outdoors! During this program, you’ll participate in a surprise hands-on activity, led outdoors by a naturalist. In the past, we’ve hosted pond-dipping, sweep-netting for insects, a fossil dig, a nature hike, and more. Come dressed for the weather, as you’ll have fun outdoors no matter the conditions! Sturdy shoes are recommended. Masks are required for participants over the age of two.
Playground Crawl – August 28, 9:00 am – 12:00 pm
Penn Meadows, Centennial, Deerfield, Beaver Creek, and Quail Ridge Parks in North Liberty– Spend the day with your household exploring the city’s playgrounds and enjoy special treats and activities at each stop as you make your way around town. After a year of shifting plans, stand-ins, and alternatives, you deserve events you can look forward to and, most importantly, count on!
