As moms we do an obscene amount of laundry each week or even each day. I was shocked at how much laundry and the frequency of loads that were added with each child that we added to our family! Our washer and dryer often feel like additional family members because of how much time I spend with them!
As a homeowner, I usually think of maintaining our heating/cooling units and changing out our air filter regularly. One thing I never thought of needing was having our dryer vents cleaned out. I try to clean the lint trap after each cycle, but never even knew cleaning out dryer vents was a thing until I heard of Dryer Vent Squad!
The Importance of Dryer Vent Cleaning
Did you know that FEMA and dryer manufacturing companies recommend that dryer vents be cleaned every year? Lint and debris are the number one cause of dryer fires, which is why maintenance on dryer vents is so crucial. Clogged dryer ventings and high moisture content escaping into the laundry room can also cause mold to grow. Not good, especially when you have kids in the house!
If that’s not enough to make you want to clean your vents, then maybe finding out that clean vents could save you $15-$25 a month on utilities if you are using your automatic dryer will. Cleaning dryer vents can also cut down on drying times, saving you time. Saving money, time and safety is super important in any household!
Cue Dryer Vent Squad. Dryer Vent Squad is a local company that comes and cleans out your dryer vent for you, solving all the problems that unclean dryer vents can cause.
I recently had our vent cleaned by them and can’t say enough about how easy the process was! Scheduling the service was as simple as hopping on their website or giving them a call. The times were convenient for my schedule too. After the appointment was scheduled, Lincoln, one of the owners, texted me to remind me of the service. I love when I get reminders because as busy moms we can forget!
How Dryer Vent Cleaning Works
When Dryer Vent Squad came out, Lincoln took a look at our dryer and where it vented from the house. He then ran the dryer for a couple of minutes to get initial readings of the usage. From there he hooked up some hoses and took out a bag that looked like a vacuum bag, which he then attached to the vent on the outside of the house. He stuck the hosing down in the vent and sucked all of the lint and debris into the bag. After things were cleaned out he took another reading of our dryer usage. We increased about 15%, which Lincoln said was a pretty good number!
The thing that I loved about Dryer Vent Squad is that the whole process took about 20 minutes. On average it takes about 20 to 40 minutes depending on the set up of the house and the length of the vent. They run on a flat rate fee, so there aren’t any surprises when it comes to charges.
I can’t recommend Dryer Vent Squad enough for the ease of service, friendly staff and quick appointment. Dryer vent maintenance will now be added to our yearly home owner duties!
