{Event Recap}: Touch a Truck 2018

We had a BLAST at our Touch a Truck Event with Collins Community Credit Union and Trinity Lutheran School on September 29th! Over 100 kids and their families joined us for games, activities, exploring trucks, food, and fun! Read on to find out more!!

From their fun Plinko game to their amazing prizes, fun guessing game activities, and great swag, everything made kids want to go back again and again! Olli the Owl was also a hit and several of our team members’ kids couldn’t stop talking about wanting to go back to see Olli!

Our Co-Host

We loved hosting this event with Trinity Lutheran School again this year! Their staff is so friendly and accommodating and it was wonderful to have the gym to warm up in with activities when the kids got cold from being outdoors with the trucks! The Heroes

We are so thankful to have so many amazing heroes in our community who are dedicated to keeping us safe and healthy! We loved getting to visit with some of our local heroes and checking out their vehicles, including the Cedar Rapids Fire DepartmentCedar Rapids Police DepartmentLinn County Sheriff’s Office, Area Ambulance Service, Linn County HazMat Team, Cedar Rapids Public Works Department, and LifeGuard Air Ambulance!

The Fun

Special thanks to Space Walk of Cedar Rapids & Dubuque for providing the awesome bounce house! Kids had a blast going in it over and over again! We appreciate the fact that they not only will deliver the bounce house AND pick it up, but they also set it up and take it down for you!! Game changer!! Revive Family Chiropractic‘s friendly staff was on hand doing wellness checks for adults and kids! They also had a super fun pumpkin ring toss game that the kids loved to play over and over again! One of the highlights of the event was the amazing signs that Card My Yard Cedar Rapids did!! They also hosted a fun bag toss game through their letter signs! This mom-owned business offers yard decorations for all of your special occasions, including birthdays, baby announcements, graduations, and more! Get details on their website!

Attendees enjoyed browsing Alyssa Levisay’s amazing Usborne Books & More selection and making fun beaded bracelets! We love the quality of Usborne Books and they make terrific gifts or additions to your child’s library! Find out more on her website!

Kaitlyn is the founder and previous owner of Cedar Rapids Moms and is an Iowa girl who has been married to her husband, Joshua, since 2007! She’s a busy work-at-home mama to their 5 children: 3 girls and 2 boys! A true Hawkeye, she graduated from the University of Iowa with her Bachelor’s degree in Psychology, something that comes in handy on a daily basis while trying to raise 5 kids! Her favorite things to do include spending time with her family, cheering on the Hawkeyes, reading a good book, shopping (of course!), and checking out all the activities the Corridor has to offer!
