Today we want to introduce you to our Expert Panel! Do you have a question about managing pain during childbirth? Or how to know whether it’s the baby blues or something more serious? Maybe you want to know about when the best age is to potty train your child, or the best tips for getting in shape. Write those questions down while you’re thinking about them and bring them to Bloom Moms Night Out! Our experts will be ready to answer them.
Meet the Experts: Bloom Moms Night Out Expert Panel
Dr. Kimberly Kenne
Dr. Kimberly Kenne is a Clinical Assistant Professor in Obstetrics and Gynecology at University of Iowa Hospitals & Clinics. Dr. Kenne earned her MCR from Oregon Health and Science University, and her MD from the University of Iowa Carver College of Medicine. Dr. Kenne completed a residency at The Ohio State University Medical Center and fellowship training at Oregon Health and Science University in Portland, Oregon. While Dr. Kenne typically cares for women approaching or after menopause, her practice includes women from their 20s all the way to their 90s. Dr. Kenne treats women with pelvic floor disorders such as urinary incontinence, pelvic organ prolapse, and trauma from a childbirth injury. Her passion is improving someone’s quality of life and returning them to a sense of normalcy. Dr. Kenne has clinical, educational, and research interests in global women’s health and is currently collaborating with clinical sites in both Ethiopia and Uganda. She feels strongly all women deserve access to urogynecologic care. When not at work, Dr. Kenne enjoys gardening, running, biking, and traveling with her husband and two-year-old Australian Shepherd.
Dr. Kristen Harring
Dr. Kristen Harring is a pediatrician at the University of Iowa Stead Family Children’s Hospital. She received her MD from Washington University in St. Louis. Dr. Harring completed a residency in Pediatrics at the University of North Carolina, Chapel Hill. Her area of clinical interest is in nutrition. Outside of work, she enjoys running, reading, and playing outside with her two sons.
Meagan Thompson is a Clinical Assistant Professor and a Certified Nurse-Midwife at the University of Iowa Hospitals & Clinics. She received a Bachelor of Arts in Sociology from the University of Wisconsin, a Master of Nursing from the University of Minnesota, and completed a Doctor of Nursing Practice degree from the University of Minnesota. Meagan has interests in perinatal mood disorders and promoting physiologic birth.
Renee Bullis, PT, DPT
Renee Bullis, PT, DPT, is a pelvic floor physical therapist who specializes in women’s health. Earlier this year, she welcomed twins and has been sharing a lot about her journey, while also helping to educate, empower and support women in all phases of life, especially through pregnancy and postpartum through her blog, Girl Talk. She grew up in Iowa before moving to Kansas City to pursue her undergraduate degree and play soccer at William Jewell College. After graduating, she obtained her Doctorate of Physical Therapy from Rockhurst University, also in Kansas City. She has a special passion for all things women’s health and athletes of all abilities and ages, but truly enjoy the variety that orthopedics provides. When not in the clinic, she enjoys spending time with my husband, twins, and dog, traveling, hiking, a good cup of coffee, and getting together with friends and family.
Shannon Wilson is a Mental Health Counselor licensed in the State of Iowa and is certified as a Perinatal Mental Health Professional through Postpartum Support International. She is co-owner and practices at Murray, Wilson, & Rose Counseling & Behavioral Services. Shannon enjoys working with individuals and couples. She has expertise in the treatment of perinatal mood and anxiety disorders and is passionate about working with women in all aspects of their motherhood journey, from pre-conception planning to postpartum transition and adjustment. Shannon also has a great deal of experience supporting individuals who have experienced pregnancy and infant loss. Additionally, she is gaining additional training in the treatment of OCD and related anxiety disorders. Outside of the office, Shannon’s time is spent as a partner and a mother to three awesome humans. You can probably find her tending to her vegetable garden, watching Netflix or spending time connecting with friends.
Dr. Hannah Anderson
Through the BIRTHFIT Cedar Rapids Postpartum Series, Dr. Hannah Anderson helps women heal after giving birth. She helps nourish women in regards to nutritional, emotional, and physical health by addressing the whole person rather than pieces. She is certified by the ICPA in pediatric and maternal health care, trained in Neuroemotional Technique, Mercier Therapy, DNS, and passionate about helping women preconception through postpartum. Hannah also co-owns Well Labs, a nutrition company on a mission to give back. She’s excited to answer your questions on exercise, core, and pelvic health in the prenatal and postpartum stages of life.
Lisa Dolphin is a pediatric occupational therapist. She is co-owner of ProActive Pediatric Therapy which is an outpatient based pediatric therapy clinic offering occupational, physical, and speech therapy services. She is a Certified Lactation Counselor, MNRI core in training, and NIDCAP certified (advanced training for Neonatal Intensive Care Unit). Lisa received her BA from Wartburg College in Waverly, IA. She received her Master’s of Science in occupational therapy from Washington University’s Program in Occupational Therapy, St. Louis, MO. ProActive’s model of care is unique as we truly want to be proactive (rather than reactive) in identifying and preventing developmental issues so that children do not have to struggle as they grow. Lisa and ProActive’s team are experts in identifying infant/toddler motor concerns that can lead to issues later in life. In her free time, Lisa loves spending time with her husband and 3 children as well as sinking her toes in warm sand along a beach whenever possible.
