Maybe you want to know about when to take your child to the eye doctor, or how to get them to sleep better at night. Meet the Bloom Mom’s Night Out Expert Panel
Susan Halverson, MD
Susan Halverson, MD is a pediatrician with University of Iowa Stead Family Children’s Hospital, practicing at two locations in Cedar Rapids. She graduated with a BA from Illinois Wesleyan University in Bloomington, Illinois. She completed medical school at Southern Illinois University School of Medicine and pediatric residency at LeBonheur Children’s Hospital in Memphis, Tennessee. She returned to Iowa and was in pediatric private practice for six years before joining UI Stead Family Children’s Hospital. She enjoys caring for the spectrum of children from birth to high school. When she is not working, she enjoys spending time with her husband and three children.
Gina Lockwood, MD, MS
Gina Lockwood, MD, MS is a pediatric urologist at University of Iowa Stead Family Children’s Hospital. A pediatric urologist specializes in surgical and medical care of the male and female urinary tract and the male genital tract in children. She completed her medical school at the Southern Illinois University School of Medicine. She completed her urology residency at the Medical College of Wisconsin and pediatric urology fellowship and Master of Science in Clinical and Translational Research at the University of Connecticut. Her research interests include quality improvement in pediatric urology and optimization of parent and patient education. She is originally from the St. Louis area (Go Cards)! In her free time, she enjoys spending time with her husband Brad, dog Leeloo, and getting ready for their first baby in September 2019!
Shannon Wilson, LMHC, PMH-C
Shannon Wilson is a Mental Health Counselor licensed in the State of Iowa. Shannon is the first person in the state to become Certified in Perinatal Mental Health through Postpartum Support International. She is co-owner and practices at Murray, Wilson, & Rose Counseling & Behavioral Services. She holds a Bachelor’s Degree in Social Work and earned her Master’s Degree in Counseling, Rehabilitation and Student Development in 2010 from the University of Iowa. Shannon has extensive experience treating individuals and couples in a variety of settings. She has expertise in the treatment of perinatal mood and anxiety disorders and is passionate about working with women in all aspects of their motherhood journey, from pre-conception planning to postpartum transition and adjustment. Shannon also has a great deal of experience supporting individuals who have experienced pregnancy and infant loss. Outside of the office, Shannon is a wife and a mother to three young children. She enjoys spending time with her spouse and children, shopping, and connecting with friends. She also enjoys her role as Chair for the newly created Iowa Chapter of Postpartum Support International.
Thinking big leads to growth. It’s something that Clint Brady believes in. By thinking big, it challenges you to grow personally, professionally, and financially. It’s this philosophy that motivates him to pursue continuing education in his field and working with experienced Financial Advisors within Northwestern Mutual. To learn as much as he can and make sure his clients have all the resources necessary on their path to financial independence. When working with Clint, you can expect a partner on your financial plan and an advocate for you to think big. It’s often this reason that many of Clint’s clients become friends. Clint, his wife, Stephanie and two girls, Braelyn, and Kensington (Kensi) are avid Hawkeye fans. Clint being the boisterous one of the bunch. When Clint has some spare time he enjoys hanging out with his family, golfing, hunting with his dog Whiskey, working on his cherished lawn and reading business and personal development books.
Aimee Colander, OD
Dr. Aimee Colander is an Optometrist at Iowa EyeCare Cedar Rapids. She was raised in Center Point, Iowa and graduated from Center Point-Urbana High School. She received her Bachelor’s Degree in Biology from the University of Northern Iowa in Cedar Falls, Iowa, and completed her Doctor of Optometry degree at Indiana University School of Optometry in Bloomington, Indiana. Along with her husband, Brian, they have two children and enjoy spending time with their families, attending church, and watching Chicago sports teams. In her free time, Dr. Colander likes spending time outdoors, running, and reading novels.
Hannah Anderson, DC, CACCP
Dr. Hannah Anderson specializes in women’s health care with an emphasis on postpartum rehabilitation. She is the regional director of Birthfit Cedar Rapids, working to bring a new approach to the motherhood transition. Dr. Anderson is certified in prenatal and pediatric care from the ICPA, and trained in dynamic neuromuscular stabilization from the Prague School. As a mom, she understands how different and foreign your new mom-bod can feel, and the frustration of postpartum issues like diastasis recti, or the ever-glamorous: peeing your pants when you run/jump/sneeze/etc. She teaches postpartum rehabilitation classes to help moms strengthen and rebuild their awesome postpartum bodies before they hop back into the world of fitness. At her office (Back In Line on Center Point Road) she also uses a variety of lab testing to help women navigate their nutritional and metabolic needs before, after, and in between pregnancies. She spends her down time with her husband trying to prevent their toddler from throwing things in the toilet, or eating food from the dog’s bowl. Occasionally they succeed.
Meredith Brough is the owner of Sweet Slumber, a baby and toddler sleep coaching business. Her journey as a sleep coach began with her own 5 children and as an in-home daycare provider for 15 years, where she gained valuable hands-on experience learning how to transform babies into amazing sleepers. For the past two years, Meredith has worked with mothers in their homes and all over the world using internet tools such as FaceTime. Meredith supports new mothers as they build strong sleep habits in newborns, and reconstructs sleep patterns in children 4 months to 4 years old. Her feel-good methods restore joy to motherhood through the sleep potential of children. In her free time, she loves to be with her family, travel, be outdoors, and connect with other moms.
Sami Anderson RN, BSN
Julie Sterling MD, FAAFP
Dr. Sterling graduated from Mt. Mercy College in Cedar Rapids, IA with a B.S. in Biology and Psychology in 1998. She attended and graduated from the University of Iowa College of Medicine in 2002. In 2005, she completed her residency at the University of Minnesota Family Practice Residency at St. John’s Hospital in Maplewood. She is board certified in family medicine. She joined Family Medicine Specialists P.C. in 2005. In her free time she enjoys spending time with her husband, Eric, and 5 children, as well as cooking and gardening.
Becky Winnike, BSN, ARNP, CNM
Becky Winnike is a certified nurse midwife in Obstetrics and Gynecology at University of Iowa Hospitals & Clinics. She has been in practice for 19 years. She earned her BSN and her MSN at the University of Texas, Medical Branch, in Galveston, Texas. She worked in women and infants nursing for 18 years before becoming an ARNP and CNM. In her practice, she cares for women throughout their lives, from adolescence through post-menopause. When not working, she enjoys spending time with her husband, four children, and grandchildren.
